Thie Gold | Abstract Art

Below is a Timeline of my Paintings. It is not complete, in that I do not have all paintings featured on this timeline, but it is also incomplete in that I do not have access to each painting to feature it. Thus, the first Painting, 02 A Line, was preceded by 01 Flying Boxes. At some point I will add all, or as many as possible to this timeline. Additionally, for whatever reason, now and then, I will paint various canvass without a title. For the time being, they can be seen below in an Appendix, called Waves, as I do not have reason to call them anything more than that for now.

Each work takes a couple of years before I consider it relatively complete. Not one, would I consider entirely complete at this time. They are all Oil on Canvas, with on Waves exception. I developed my style for the first time when I was approximately 17 years old. Now, Nearly 25 years later, it has not changed much but rather developed. Sometimes, I try to expand and stretch my style. Overall, it consists of many thick layers of oil painted year after year onto the layer below.

As of now, June 2025, I have decided to begin sharing my work. Previously, I have kept it very private. I will tell the story of my art. Feel free to follow along under the My Story tab. The timeline below, is a work in progress. Many of the photos of my Paintings need to be more professionally taken. Slowly they will all be updated and descriptions will be added.

A Line

One singular line experience with a dark and light side, inter-tangled within itself. Expressed in a 3d dimension. This is the second painting I started when I was at the University.

Chinese Checkers

Movement on a wooden board playing with marbles board and my Grandmother inspired Chinese Checkers. My Grandmother and I played this game each time I visited her in southern Missouri. As far as I know, I was one of the only people who loved playing this game with her. It is largely strategic where one must constantly survey the strategies of one's opponent and be prepared to change course. The movement of one piece to they next with long varying smooth moves, is what my mind obsessed over. For me it is a testament to the unique relationship she and I shared.

Someone Like Me

The name of this piece inevitably makes it seem a reflection of me. While I think I lie within it, I also know that other women are in it as well. When I thought of it as I was making it, I often thought of a woman who I regularly passed by in a subway station in Berlin. She was homeless, which in Berlin says something. To become homeless in a country with a social structure designed to prevent homelessness, took effort, I often though to myself. I felt for her circumstance and often wondered what her daily woes might be.

I wondered more often than not, how close I was to becoming her. Were we so different?

Ribbon

By far my favorite work, embraces femininity in its abstract approach to a ribbon. The white is the profile of the ribbon, bending and constantly taking up the negative space allotted. The gradient from yellow to blue is the gradient seen on a thick ribbon as it bends and flows.
